How we count
Every number on this site comes from an approved proof. This page shows how, and where each factor comes from.
Lamp rules
- Green for a lane: a reviewer approved a proof in that lane within the last 30 days.
- Amber: a proof is waiting for review or needs more information, or the latest approved proof is older than 30 days.
- Red: no proof has been sent for that lane.
The 30 day window is a design choice for this pilot. It keeps the wall honest: a green lamp means recent activity, not a single event long ago.
How each number is worked out

| Electricity saved (kWh) | Approved Reduce proofs. Either kWh saved as reported from a bill or meter, or an estimate: AC kWh per month, times months, times the saving per degree, times degrees raised (capped at 6). |
| CO2e avoided | kWh saved times the grid emission factor below. One kWh is one thousandth of a MWh, so tCO2/MWh and kg CO2/kWh are the same number. |
| E-waste to registered recyclers | Sum of the kg on approved Recycle proofs, taken from the recycler's receipt. |
| People reached | Sum of the reach figures on approved proofs, as reported. The same person can be counted twice. |

What these numbers are not
- They are not audited and not verified by a third party. They are proof sent by ambassadors and reviewed by chapter volunteers.
- They estimate emissions avoided by MaD actions. They are not a workplace's corporate carbon footprint.
- Savings depend on the equipment and how it is used. The 6 percent per degree figure is a rule of thumb.
- Use them to show progress and to prepare for formal reporting. Keep the proofs behind any claim you make outside the workplace.
Checks before a proof counts
- A reviewer opens every proof. Nothing counts until it is approved.
- A reviewer checks the PMI member ID before any proof from that ambassador can be approved, and before the workplace appears on the wall.
- The same file used in two proofs is flagged. Unusually large numbers are flagged.
- Reviewers can ask for more information or decline a proof, with a note.
